Our Stay in Canmore, Alberta: The Perfect Home Base for Exploring Banff

Hello readers, friends, and fellow travelers,

We recently traveled to Alberta for a wedding in Banff National Park. While planning our trip, the couple recommended staying in Canmore rather than Banff itself, noting that it was more affordable and offered plenty of activities, restaurants, and amenities. We are so glad we took their advice and would highly recommend Canmore to anyone visiting the area.

For accommodations, we booked an Airbnb and stayed from Friday evening through Wednesday morning. Overall, it was an excellent experience and provided the perfect home base for exploring the Canadian Rockies.

A Wonderful Airbnb Experience

We have many positive things to say about both the property and the hosts. From the beginning, the hosts were responsive, professional, and genuinely helpful. They provided recommendations for local attractions, restaurants, and activities, which helped us make the most of our time in the area.

The location was one of the biggest highlights of our stay. The condo was approximately 20 minutes from Banff National Park and conveniently located near downtown Canmore. One evening, we were even able to walk to dinner at Bridgette, which was a great experience.

The unit itself was spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped. After long days of sightseeing and hiking, it was nice to have plenty of room to relax. The bed was very comfortable, and having access to in-unit laundry was a huge convenience during our extended stay.

We also appreciated several thoughtful extras provided by the host, including bear spray and a park pass. These small touches added value to our stay and made exploring the area even easier.

Areas for Improvement

While we had a very positive experience overall, there were a few areas that could be improved.

The hot tub is beginning to show its age and could benefit from some updates. Additionally, the parking situation was a bit confusing when we first arrived, particularly when trying to locate the elevators from the parking garage. Providing clearer arrival and parking instructions would make check-in easier for future guests.

One minor comfort issue was the bedding. The bed used two flat sheets rather than a fitted sheet, which caused the sheets to shift during the night. A fitted sheet would likely improve the sleeping experience.

Final Thoughts

Overall, this Airbnb provided a comfortable, well-located, and welcoming place to stay while visiting Canmore and Banff National Park. The excellent location, spacious accommodations, thoughtful amenities, and responsive hosts made for a memorable stay.

With just a few minor updates and clearer arrival instructions, the experience could be even better. Despite those small suggestions, we would absolutely stay here again and confidently recommend it to anyone visiting the Canmore area.
