Where We Ate, Drank & Grabbed Coffee in Banff, Canmore & Calgary

Hello friends, readers, and fellow travelers,

One of our favorite parts of any trip is trying local restaurants, coffee shops, and breweries—and this trip was no exception. Between wedding festivities, hiking, and sightseeing, we found plenty of great spots to eat, grab coffee, or unwind with a drink.

Here are the places we visited during our time in Banff, Canmore, and Calgary.

🌄 Banff

Northern Lights Alpine Kitchen

⭐ 3 / 5
📍 Banff Gondola – Sulphur Mountain, Banff, AB, Canada

A brunch spot with unbeatable mountaintop views after riding the gondola up. The food is solid, but the scenery is what makes this place unforgettable. We booked the blooms and brunch deal. I felt like it was a good deal for what you paid for.

Wild Flour Bakery

⭐ 3.5 / 5
📍 211 Bear Street, Banff, AB

A must-stop bakery for pastries and coffee. Cozy, quick, and perfect before heading out on hikes or exploring. We visited during our Viator tour.

🏔 Canmore

The Grizzly Paw Brewing Company

⭐ 4 / 5
📍 622 8th Street, Canmore, AB

A great local brewery with a relaxed mountain-town vibe and solid craft beer. They also have a surprisingly fun “dirty soda” menu—it was actually really tasty.

Bridgette Bar

⭐ 4.5 / 5
📍 1030 Spring Creek Drive, Canmore, AB

A standout dinner spot. Shareable plates, cocktails, and a stylish-but-cozy atmosphere make it perfect for a night out. This was probably our favorite meal of the trip.

Après Canmore

⭐ 4 / 5
📍 836 8th Street, Canmore, AB

A lively après-style bar—great for drinks with friends after dinner.

Chez François Restaurant

⭐ 4.5 / 5
📍 1716 Bow Valley Trail, Canmore, AB

A classic brunch spot with hearty portions and a busy, local feel. This was our favorite brunch of the trip—the eggs Benedict was excellent. The boozy coffee, however, wasn’t worth it in my opinion.

Rocky Mountain Bagel Co.

⭐ 1.5 / 5
📍 830 8th Street, Canmore, AB

I’m a bagel person through and through—so I had high hopes here. Unfortunately, I just wasn’t impressed. We went twice thinking we may have ordered wrong the first time, but it didn’t really improve.

Eclipse Coffee Roasters

⭐ 2.5 / 5
📍 1516 Railway Ave, Canmore, AB

A cute coffee shop and convenient morning stop before heading into the mountains. Coffee was okay, but the atmosphere was nice.

The Local

⭐ 4 / 5
📍 718 8th Street, Canmore, AB

A casual, reliable spot with a laid-back mountain-town vibe. I especially loved the outdoor seating.

JK Bakery Café

⭐ 3.5 / 5
📍 1000 7th Ave, Canmore, AB

A cozy bakery perfect for coffee, pastries, and quick breakfast bites.

🌆 Calgary

Moxies

⭐ 1 / 5
📍 29 Hopewell Way N.E., Calgary, AB

An easy stop after a long day of hiking and travel, but unfortunately this one missed the mark. The service and food were both underwhelming and not something I’d recommend.

✨ Trip Favorites

If we had to highlight the absolute standouts from the trip:

  • Bridgette Bar — best overall dinner
  • Chez François Restaurant — best brunch spot
  • Sky Bistro — most unforgettable view

And surprisingly… I was more impressed with the food and coffee in Montana than in Banff/Canmore! Stay tuned for future blogs covering our adventures throughout Canada and Montana!
