With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, why not break the tradition, and host a Galentine’s Day Party? Happy Galentine’s Day season friends, and fellow readers! Gather your closest friends, and get ready for a night of laughter and love.
Valentine’s Day is not just for roses and romance, it’s also a great opportunity to celebrate the important friendships in our lives with Galentine’s Day. Thanks to social media and popular TV shows, Galentine’s Day continues to become more popular. The internet has inspired gals to get together, and inspire some creativity.
What is Galentine’s Day? The official Galentine’s Day takes place on February 13, one day before Valentine’s Day. This unofficial holiday was popularized by the beloved sitcom, Parks and Rec , where Leslie Knope famously gathered her girlfriends for brunch, and some fun girl time. Of course, Galentine’s Day has become popularized by Tik Tok. Ever since the lovely Leslie Knope came up with this fun “holiday”, it has become a fantastic way for women to bond, share laughs, and celebrate each other.
Now that you know what Galentine’s Day is, let’s talk about how to throw a party that your friends will be raving about for weeks!
First step: Choose your Vibe
First things first, what is the vibe of your Galentine’s Day party? Are you going for a classy brunch/dinner, a cozy movie night, a high energy dance party, or a crafty party. Whatever you choose, set the mood with a good playlist, and the right decor. Think pink, red, lots of hearts and xoxo’s.
Step Two: Spread the word
How are you going to spread the word of your Galentine’s Day party? Are you going to send out a cute digital invitation, or simply send out a group chat. Check out these cute digital invites? It’s such a cute personal touch. I am sad I only thought of it after our galentine’s day party!
Step Three: Capture the memories and get decorating!
Create a photobooth, or a fun backdrop. Have people get creative, and capture those great memories. Our decorations came out so cute! It made the party!
Step Four: What kind of food are we going to eat?!
No party is complete without food! Depending on the vibe of the party, food choices vary! Let’s come up with some different Galentine’s Day food options!
Step Five: Sweet drinks
Don’t forget about the fun drinks! There’s nothing better than creating a signature cocktail for your event (we did some fun espresso martinis!). You can definitely keep things simple with champagne and rose. Also, don’t forget some non-alcoholic drinks for your DD’s, and sober friends.
Step Five: What are we doing for fun?
Okay… now you are set up with goodies for a Galentine’s Day, you need to start figuring out what you will do at your party! Here are some fun ideas! I hope you guys get creative.
- DIY Craft station- friendship bracelets (hello T Swift), painting canvases, wine glasses, or even frames.
- Tip: Get your art supplies from the dollar store! No reason to buy the same canvas for x2 the price!
- Games- Who doesn’t love a good game? Play pictionary, charades, and salad bowl. You can even use the theme of friendship and Valentine’s Day!
Now, get planning! Galentine’s Day is all about celebrating the amazing women in our life, and having so much fun. I think honoring these friendships is so important and throwing a great Galentine’s Day party is a great way to show it.
