Month of Love Dating Series: Love language of physical touch

Learning the love languages can be a meaningful way to connect with your partner, or even a close friend. During the month of love date series, I wanted to go into detail about the love languages, and gift ideas for date nights. I am curious what others got? We finished words of affirmation, but I thought we’d jump to physical touch. Who got physical touch, as their love language?

Physical touch, love language, can be defined as, “The way people connect, and involve more intimate contact like kissing, and yes sexual activities”. For people that got physical touch as their love language, these people express and receive love through physical touch. We obviously have to be clear that this is appropriate, and consensual physical touch, and the type of relationship you have with that individual.

Now that we understand what physical touch is and how consent is a must, let’s discuss some fun date night ideas for the people that got physical touch as their love language. Let’s keep it PG ya’ll.

For friends or even a loved one:

In a situation with a friend or even a loved one, when they are upset, using touch to comfort them in a situation. This could be as simple as placing a hand on their shoulder or even giving them a hug.

Go shopping:

Go shopping with your partner and hold hands. This can be as easy as going to do your routine grocery shopping. My husband would say, this is not me. I am personally not a hand holder, or a PDA person. I love my husband, but he will not describe me as cuddly. Physical touch is definitely not my love language.

Plan an activity

Do an activity that involves lots of flirting, getting close, and connecting with each other. This could be a cooking class, baking class, dance lessons, or ice skating.

Watching TV or a movie

This would be a great free date night, incorporating your love language. Watch a Netflix movie/show that you both would enjoy and cuddle. If anyone needs a suggestion, we are currently loving suits!

If you got physical touch, what kind of date are you going to enjoy with your loved one? Are you going to try one of these ideas, or did you come up with one on your own? Nick is unfortunately agreeing with what I come up with, and we will be going to a baking class. It’ll be fun to connect with each other and learn a new skill. I thought about dance lessons, but decided I’d be pushing my limits.

If you didn’t get physical touch or words of affirmation, don’t worry, receiving gifts is up next!
