Month of Love Dating Series: Love language of words of affirmation

Learning the love languages can be a meaningful way to connect with your partner, or even a close friend. During the month of love date series, I wanted to go into detail about the love languages, and gift ideas for date nights. I am curious what others got, but I thought I’d start with Words of Affirmation. Who got words of affirmation as their love language?

Words of Affirmation can be defined as, “ Verbal expressions of love, appreciation, and encouragement”. These words don’t need to be complex, instead these individuals appreciate thoughtful simple phrases. The individual that relates to words of affirmation, needs their partner/friend to mean what they say, say I love you, and you mean a lot to me. It’s really all about thoughtful words and thoughtful actions.

Now let’s get to some fun date nights for my words of affirmation friends.

Write each other a love letter.

Spend a half hour with each other and write a love letter to each other. There’s nothing sweeter than a handwritten letter to your significant other. Now these letters don’t need to be given right away. They can also be given when things are tough and you’ve had a bad day,  on an anniversary, or even a random day, when you want to show some appreciation to that person.

Create a scavenger hunt

My husband isn’t a fan of a good scavenger hunt. Growing up, every year my dad created a scavenger hunt to find one of our Christmas gifts. Two years ago, I created one for my husband, and he absolutely hated it. I also did it this year. Write down loving, and nice things to your partner, and scatter them throughout the house. Your significant other will find them throughout the day, or week and feel loved. I won’t torture my husband with this one this month, I think we’ll do another activity!

Create a scratch off card with words of love.

This is a fun way to show how you feel about your partner. My plan is to make nick a scratch off card for valentines day. This is a fun date night to create these, but also is a great card for valentines day. Follow along with this video and create your lover a scratch off card. giftybymel on Tik-Tok did a great job explaining this craft.
