Jingle Date Series: Date two

I still remember when someone told me that someone said I lived a perfect life with my perfect husband. I couldn’t help but laugh honestly. If only they knew how much of a mess this life really is. It’s honestly hard to keep up sometimes, to the point my husband and my parents just say…let me know what the plan is. Let’s talk about some life updates, and then we can talk about jingle date series date two. I think we need a good laugh.

I thought I’d take this opportunity to tell you about the chaos in my life. It’s pretty funny sometimes, we can laugh about it now. It wasn’t funny then.

After this roller coaster of events, we are rebooked and reimbursed for all of this. It was a long weekend of uncertainty. When we first started travel nursing, this honestly would have driven me nuts. I’ve definitely adapted, and have a different mindset. It’ll all workout. Now the next situation of chaos, I wasn’t sure it was all gonna workout. If anyone knows my husband and I, he’s not an excitable person… I am. I can count on one hand the number of times where my husband literally looked like he may break up with, or divorce me. We are currently driving from Indianapolis, Indiana to Niagara Falls, New York, and I asked if he could name them. He named all five of them…One of the five happened on Thursday, and unfortunately we get reminded of it every day pretty much when we load the car from the hotel on our cross country road trip home.

I cannot wait to tell you about all things Christmas in Nebraska in my next blog. We went to a lot of good holiday local markets, and Christmas things in Nebraska. Therefore, I did a lot of local Christmas shopping in Nebraska. Every time I would buy something, Nick would make a snarky remark, you know we have to drive home right, or you know our car is a little snug. I continued to do the Christmas shopping and ignored him.

We packed our rooftop packer (honestly our saving grace! Check out our previous blogs about what you need as a travel nurse! This makes the #1) on Wednesday night. During our packing of the rooftop packer, I almost fell off a step ladder, and the car battery died… least it died during this process, and not during our drive. We were so proud of how much we fit. Until the next day…

After our last orange theory workout at Papio, Nick worked a half day and I finished packing the apartment. I started to realize how much we had left. I was thinking it would all work out, but then we started bringing it downstairs.

This is when I realized we had a problem.

There was no way this was gonna fit easily… I knew that, but when I started packing it… it became apparent that there was no way. Of course, I was trying to be calm and collected about the whole situation, meanwhile my husband had to take a “break” because I shouldn’t have Christmas shopped. Before this “break”, I think the icing on the cake definitely was when the compressed bag of clothes broke, and the clothes went everywhere. On my husband’s break, I took it upon myself to “problem solve” and shove the clothes through the crevices of the car… it worked out, and the car was packed.  I did ask myself at one point if the neighbors were sitting inside with a bucket of popcorn watching us. This is me, my perfect life, and my perfect husband figuring out a situation. It all worked out… definitely didn’t think it would, and honestly every morning on this cross country road trip, we need to give an extra 15 minutes just to reorganize the car. I think we will laugh about it soon.

I wanted to talk about the importance of laughing about these kinds of situations, and remembering that life isn’t picture perfect. I was looking forward to sharing jingle date series date two with y’all and these awesome photos. Honestly, I had great intentions and I was so excited for them. I saw this viral Tik tok and thought to myself. I can do that! Check out the Tik tok.

I altered it a little bit because Nick and I try to eat relatively healthy. I went light on the frosting, no sprinkles and bought a small can of cinnamon rolls. I missed the part about needing GRAND cinnamon rolls. You need grand or this recipe doesn’t work. Jingle date series date two: complete fail.

Christmas tree cinnamon bun or turd cinnamon bun💩. Better luck with jungle date series date three. At least they tasted good.

I think the major lesson here is. It’s not all about life being picture perfect. Sometimes you just need to laugh it off and move on. It will all work out. Figure out a solution.
