I would like to tell you all the exciting happenings of the first week in Nebraska, but unfortunately there’s not much to tell. We found another Furnish Finder in the surrounding area. We are living in Papillion, Nebraska. It is 20 minutes from where I am working, convenient from the grocery stores, and near the downtown area. I included some pictures of our new apartment, but I always wait till the end to give a deep dive review of the place. I say this every assignment, but moving in on the sunday and starting work on the Monday, is A LOT.

Luckily the apartment is close to Orange theory, and also the parks nearby, where Nick and I have been running/walking. We went to a class before work, which I haven’t done before and I actually really liked that routine. I feel like it woke me up and gave me the kick start to my day. I kind of find it funny though, whenever we start a new orange theory location, the other people always act like we are brand new. Nick and I always try to add in… we just moved here. It always feels kind of awkward for some reason. We started over the couch to 10K app this past week. We have done this app before and finished it, but have been focusing a lot on Orange Theory.. If anyone follows Bonniewyrick on instagram/tiktok, she’s a big fashion influencer that really promotes moving your body. She actually is from the Omaha area! I like her a lot because she doesn’t focus on weight loss, or how people actually look, but instead how you feel working out. She is big into elevatefitstudio and recently started couch to 10K to start training for a half marathon. She kind of inspired me to restart the app, and get out running again.

This past week when we started the couch to 10K, I can proudly say that I felt faster than last time. I have been working hard at Orangetheory and my pace. Nick will probably say that I have been spending too much time in the red, but I can actually say that I feel good afterwards! I think everyone’s opinions on orangetheory color’s are a little different. What do you think?

First impressions of the hospital: good. I can honestly say… When you first start a contract, you get a little concerned. You start hearing a few people say some bad things about the hospital, and then you get cold feet. This week there were a lot of online modules and a computer class. Typically travelers get two days of orientation on the floor. The orientation consists of learning how to page the doctors, the policies and procedures of the floor/hospital, how the floor is run, where the supplies are, etc. You definitely have to be a strong nurse, as a traveler, as it’s not the time to learn basic nursing skills. I think it’s going to be a good 13 weeks.
I started a new project. The furnish finder unfortunately didn’t come with a dresser. We found a dresser for $15.00 at a thrift store. I am currently learning/working on refinishing it. It’s definitely a learning experience. These are some of the before pictures:

I would like to say we did some exciting things the first weekend. I was off work because I worked on the floor on Thursday, and had a lot of orientation modules. We did some exciting things, but not really what we had planned. We originally had a sunflower festival and Nebraska state fair planned, but Nick had a whole different plan. Being a redhead and all, will put you at risk for dehydration. Nick will say he’s not a redhead. Do you disagree? As we told the urgent care and emergency room, us northerners are not used to the heat. Unfortunately, we spent the night in the emergency room for IV fluids. Nick is feeling a lot better and learned his lesson. Water, liquid IV, gatorade, and pedialyte are his new best friend. We are happy that this situation didn’t get worse.
